  • I bought this printer on E-bay for $35 including shipping. I’ve used it for printing papers, PowerPoint slides, scanning tax documents, printing PayPal Shipping labels, and lots of regular home office things. This is what this printer is meant to do, and it does it perfectly. It fits on my desk without any problems, and one ink cartridge has lasted me ~300 pages of PPT presentions, and 10-page papers (3/4 of a semester). I highly recommend this printer to anyone whose looking for economy not quality.

  • I purchased this Lexmark X2470 all in one for printing pictures,

faxing, printing documents, scanning and making copies.

I was very disappointed with the quality of the photos.

They were not sharp and did not have good color definition.

I needed to print some shipping labels and the print and

confirmation code were too light and not true black.

The print looked like a grey green shade instead.

I tried to darken the printer settings to no avail.

I ordered a new cartridge online for $20.00 and the print

    was still too light!

I guess it has to do with the single cartridge for black/color combined.

The only good thing I can say about this Lexmark is that the scanning

    worked fine.

I have not tried to fax as yet so I cannot make a judgement on that.

The paper holder is cheap and does not hold a lot of paper.

The plastic piece that inserts into unit cracked after 2 uses.

I went out and ordered a HP deskjet from Circuit City for $34.00 on sale

and it works much better as far as rich ink quality, speed, and color photos.

I am sorry I purchased the Lexmark before I read more reviews.

  • Pros

-For general printing, the print quality is decent. Neither horrible or great.

-The scanner is quite good, and I’ve never had problems with it.

    -Overall relatively simple/easy to use.

    Cons:

-Since there is no black ink cartridge (only color), the ink comes out a gray green color rather than black.

-Just plain bad for black and white printing, because if you run out of one color, anything that’s supposed to be black comes out as whatever colors are left (red, blue, yellow).

-If you NEED to print in black and white, expect to purchase new ink cartridges often.

-2 ink cartridges cost about as much as this printer.

-It doesn’t work with Linux, or Macintosh.

Might be good mainly as a scanner, for picture printing, or perhaps a child/toy printer.

Not good for printing serious documents for school or business.

I ended up buying a new HP printer/scanner, because I wanted a printer that could print color and black, with two cartridges. Now I get a real solid black color. Also, it allows me to continue printing black even if I’ve run out of a single color in the color cartridge.

  • The Mac OS X version of software for this dumb thing seems to be nonexistent. BEWARE!

  • It prints well and quickly. The set up was easy. It does seem to leave lines in the print though if you have a lot of one color. The other problem I have with it is it doesn’t give you enough options for different sizes for printing. It has set sizes & doesn’t let you pick your own sizes which I would rather do. Not all my printings are the sizes they have. Also with just one ink cartridge you go through your ink faster.
